Demolition, Excavation and Foundation
The original home was removed in a way that was as environmentally responsible as possible with many of the raw materials being processed for reuse as an industrial fuel source. At the time the original home was built – asbestos was used extensively throughout the home and the safe removal by CM Environmental took about 3 weeks.
The home is on slope above Tsawwassen Beach – creating a very tight construction window for excavation and foundation. The excavation, footings, foundation, drainage and backfill were all completed in a remarkable six-week window. Then the Insulated Concrete Forms (ICF) from Pacific ICF went in. We prefer ICFs for energy efficiency. They reduce on-site waste and form an insulated layer around the concrete that contribute to a dry and comfortable basement in addition to improving overall home energy performance.
