Moving from a penthouse in Vancouver to a large waterfront home in Tsawwassen is the reverse of what most people do in retirement. When you love your grandchildren and want to spend more time with them, you relocate to their beachside community and build a retirement oasis. The home reflects their eclectic tastes that are both contemporary and traditional – as in the two natural stone feature walls that bring home the French farmhouse feel to the main floor.
This full home renovation began with a challenge – removing a structural wall on the main floor to create unobstructed water views through the floor to ceiling windows across the back of the home from kitchen, dining room and living room. Solution – install a steel beam to support the second floor!
The homeowner was looking for the French country feel using lots of natural stonework throughout in a contemporary setting. Light beach colours and a mix of contemporary and traditional finishes make this an inviting space for family and guest entertaining. The kitchen opens to both the dining and living rooms, making it perfect for family entertaining of large groups or intimate dinners.
A beautiful, relaxing environment was created to entertain and enjoy time with family and friends.
