This renovation was a retirement treat for the homeowners, who towards the end of the project, entrusted us with their dream and travelled to Hawaii. When the Coronavirus hit, they had to cut their trip short. With some changes to scheduling we managed to finish several weeks earlier than planned so they could quarantine in their refreshed “sanctuary”. They were delighted with the outcome and love their the new space.
The complete first floor of the 32-year-old home required extensive work since it had not been updated since being built. Do you remember sunshine ceilings? They were all the rage at the time because they made a room feel bright -but they also make the room feel smaller as the ceiling is lower. Here we removed them as well as a wall between the kitchen and den. This created a great room that is much brighter and functional. We also removed the old fireplace and inserted a new electric fireplace, updated the trim work throughout and replaced the railing to the second floor.
