Winter is the perfect time to nestle in as you begin thinking about the potential of the year coming. What are you looking forward to? Is a home renovation on your wish list for 2022? What do you envision for the sanctuary of your dreams?
At Kemp Construction, we know that when you renovate, you’re not just looking for a bigger kitchen, a more modern bathroom, or a sunny family room, you’re looking for a better lifestyle.
How could a renovation improve your lifestyle?
As you dream, it will help to clarify what you really want to accomplish through a renovation. What are the pain points of your current space? How could they be resolved? Do you need more space for a growing family? Does the home have a safety issue or problem with poor insulation or ventilation? Perhaps you are already looking forward to entertaining next summer and are dreaming about that outdoor kitchen with edible garden. At Kemp Construction, we know that when you renovate, you’re not just looking for a bigger kitchen, a more modern bathroom, or a sunny family room, you’re looking for a better lifestyle. From our first conversation with you, we like to establish a strong working relationship and get to know your dreams, values, and priorities. We’re looking for ways to bring you that better lifestyle.
In this article Steve Kemp addresses the question of how to know whether to renovate or build a new home.
Fuel the dream with inspiration
Along the way, inspiration can come from any direction. We encourage our prospective clients to be open and… browse. Look at pictures, lot and lots of pictures. Fill the walls of your imagination with ideas, colours, industry news, space solutions. Follow industry experts or trending designers and start visualizing your space. Magazines such as House Beautiful, Architectural Digest and Dwell are great resources with back issues available at the local library. Online sources, such as Pinterest immediately inform you of trends and amazing before and after transformations. Our online project gallery may give you new ideas of what is possible for full home, kitchen renovations, bathroom renovations and outdoor living. Create your wish list and we will partner with you to help make your dream a reality.
Dream now for next year
When considering a major renovation, it helps to prepare by thinking about how it will fit into your life and when. There may be a time when the disruption would be less inconvenient. While it is seldom the case, for one client, we did all the renovations while they went on an extended holiday.
Along with scheduling the project into your lifestyle, there is the timeline required for each step of the project from consultation and design to permits, trades scheduling and procuring all your finishes. Materials like unique lighting fixtures or hard to find kitchen fittings can delay things due to post pandemic supply chain issues. While this will hopefully improve soon, it is why we recommend planning ahead so that those items on the wish list can be sourced and ordered far in advance of when they would be installed.
At Kemp, we compare your wish list to your budget and deliver the best possible solutions for your planned expenses and needs.
Budget is also an important consideration. What can you afford to do? At Kemp, we compare your wish list to your budget and deliver the best possible solutions for your planned expenses and needs. We monitor the projected costs and schedule and keep you informed every step of the way.
Energy efficient renovations lead to a better lifestyle
Is energy performance important to you? Most homeowners don’t know where to start. We’re experts in energy performance and we want your home to not only look better, but feel better, last longer and operate more efficiently. To do this, we focus on components that will make your home more comfortable, durable, and energy-efficient for generations to come. In the end, you’ll breathe easier, use significantly less energy, have lower operating costs and a higher resale value! On this unique renovation, Kemp extended the life of a traditional prefab Pan-abobe home with factory-built panelized wall systems which reduce installation time, limit environmental impact and have a 25% reduction in waste.
